What do all of these letters mean?
There are many viewing displays out in today’s market and each type has pros and cons.
OLED televisions, which stands for organic light-emitting diode, are made with organic compounds that light up when fed electricity. It takes millions of these OLEDs lighting up and shutting off independently to fill your TV screen since each of them is the size of one pixel. For this reason OLED televisions are considered emissive displays.
QLED televisions on he other hand are not an emissive display technology, like plasma or OLED. This class of television is made with special Quantum dots. These dots don’t directly emit the colors you see but acts almost as a filter within an LED TV panel. They are arranged on a thin film layer and LED backlights beam through this film where the light is refined to an ideal color temperature which helps overall picture brightness and color.
4K Televisions contain nearly 4,000 pixels for their displays, while their counterparts stay around 1080 pixel count. This translates to a more clear picture according to manufactures. We have yet to be convinced on this technology as a 4K television is often more expensive than other technologies out today.
SmartTV refers to televisions with built in internet capabilities and pre-installed applications. This is becoming somewhat redundant since other technologies like Roku and FirestickTV from Amazon allow consumers to sign online without having a SmartTV.
Picture Quality is top choice
We think that the mere fact a television is designed for your viewing pleasure makes it a no-brainer that picture quality comes first on the check list. Why would you want to get a television that produces a blurry or pixelated picture?
Our team recommends that you visit a store in order to view the television in person prior to purchasing. It is easy to shop online to get the best price deal but that does not necessarily translate to best picture quality.
Which tv is best for streaming?
Technology has made it possible to “cut-the-cord” and get most of your television programs using streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and SlingTV. Streaming applications are more a product of internet speed versus the quality of the television. Although if you are using a SmartTV with applications already on it then you should consider a television with a fast processor speed. Bottom line when it comes to streaming services we are proponents of having the best picture display and good internet service.
Stick to a budget
There is no need to break the bank when buying a new television. You should select something you can afford that offers most of the features you are looking for in a television. There are so many brands and different types of televisions that it can get overwhelming. Go shopping and “test drive” a few models before deciding on the one for you.
Size Definitely Matters!
When is comes to your television bigger can be much better. The size of the television you purchase will really depend on the room you plan to place it in. Screen size helps enhance details and provide a crisp watching experience. For a bedroom we recommend at least 40 inches whereas a living room we would say 50 inches or larger.
